BACKGROUND

The client is a science-led global healthcare company.

BRIEF

The client required a free-standing partition system to segregate automated production areas and manage material and personnel flow. The barrier system had to meet the requirements of a GMP manufacturing facility and incorporate interlocked Dortek door sets for the Material and Personnel Air Locks.

SOLUTION

The proven MIDDAS M100 wall system which has been installed in several of the client’s cleanroom projects was developed as a free-standing structure will integral floor anchors. The M100 benefits from offsite manufacture, flush glazing, pre-formed corners and was developed to seamlessly integrate the Dortek doors. MIDDAS and Dortek worked closely with the client to agree the layout of the facility and the interlock protocols through the MALs and PALs. Due to the space constraints of the existing facility, MIDDAS worked with Dortek to optimise the usable space. Innovative solutions included telescopic sliding doors, and horizontal roller doors. Incorporating Dortek Horizontal roller doors with motors installed in the vertical frame work of the MIDDAS M100 partition system, MIDDAS were able to design and install 3 MALs adjacent to each other within the space constraints of the facility. The MIDDAS Stainless Steel base track was designed to act as a bump rail, and flush glazing was used throughout the project to allow clear vison into all areas.

“We worked closely with MIDDAS and the client to provide an engineered solution with MIDDAS that meet the brief in full. The offsite manufacturing by MIDDAS ensured the facility was ready to accept the Dortek door sets with pre-engineered openings and connection details, thus minimising on site programme and potential disruption. We were impressed by the flexibility of the MIDDAS partition system and how the MIDDAS team worked with Dortek and the client to deliver this innovative, efficient modular barrier solution.”
