MIDDAS – MIDDAS Blog Demountable Partitioning Solutions - MIDDAS partitioning UK

Trevor Drummond, Sales & Marketing Director, will be speaking at the BioNow Pharma Manufacturing Conference on 25th May as part of the debate on how the COVID-19 Pandemic will impact the future of pharma manufacturing.

What is the role of demountable partitioning in meeting the exacting requirements of the WELL Building Standard and delivering on BREEAM sustainable value? The answer lies in acoustic performance and sustainable manufacturing. But what does this have to do with the MIDDAS partitioning systems?

MIDDAS were selected through a competitive tendering process to design and deliver a series of full height fire rated M100 glazed screens and door sets to the University of Birmingham.

It was great to host a factory tour as part of the WSP Graduate Training Programme and also for the visitors to see where and how our approach to DfMA (Designed for Manufacture and site Assembly) for our free standing structures benefited the UK Governments ‘Mega Lab’ project (Rosalind Franklin Laboratory in Royal Leamington Spa) which many of the graduates worked on across multiple disciplines.

As primary manufacturer it’s not often you get to see the finished facility which has been built around your cleanroom solution. MIDDAS were selected by Howorth Air Technology to design a freestanding Sampling Booth/Cleanroom Suite for MSD in Heist, Belgium where all of the distributed services were supported off our modular cleanroom structure

Throughout lockdown MIDDAS have been supporting our clients.  Working to strict Government Guidelines we have been able to continue to manufacture MIDDAS cleanroom systems and components here in the UK to allow our clients to adapt and develop their cleanrooms  especially those at the forefront of the COVID-19 response including Valneva, Lonza and ONT.

As part of our recent project at the BUPA hospital the client had a specific brief for flush glazed sliding door sets requiring manual synchronised opening with flush glazed side panels where all of the glass had to achieve switchable opacity, allowing privacy to be achieved at the touch of a button as well as meeting the hygienic requirements for a critical care facility.

Another great delivery of key MIDDAS cleanroom products for a major pharmaceutical project in Switzerland. Our small part in vaccine and pharmaceutical manufacture in these critical times.

Having been able to keep our factory open throughout the COVID-19 crisis with the correct measures in place, it’s very rewarding to see the difference we are making across all sectors especially those developing vaccines and investing in R&D projects to end this pandemic.

More and more we are being asked to provide commercial interiors without a cleanroom in sight. Our demountable partitions ensure flexibility throughout the life of a facility as they can be simply reconfigured or dismantled and relocated for reuse or recycled when not required (no demolition or construction waste).

We’re proud of our manufacturing heritage.  All our products are designed and manufactured in our Telford-based factory and we’re 100% ‘made in Britain’. We’re passionate about what we do and take great pride in having a facility in Shropshire, the home of industry and engineering.

Our latest case study covers another critical healthcare project for the Royal Free Hospital, London where we built one of the UK’s largest off-site Sterile Services Departments within an existing industrial building with all important transport links.

The MIDDAS structural framework for our M100 non- progressive bi panel partition system not only supports our pre finished wall panels but is designed to allow services to be easily routed through it and can be configured to support and integrate process and HVAC services into the cleanroom envelope, all pre engineered off site ready to install.

Our latest range of flush glazed door sets, manufactured by MIDDAS here in Shrewsbury have been received very well by our cleanroom clients and those within the commercial fit-out sector.  These are destined for a major Pharmaceutical project in Switzerland and have been specifically engineered for end-user specified door furniture and controls which have been fitted in our factory, significantly reducing installation time on site.
